Via Ponte Vetero (extension of Corso Garibaldi and Via Mercato) in Milan is a beautiful central street with a lot of stores and interesting things to visit which runs along the very well known district of Brera.

We will come back to talk about this historic artists district (a small Italian Montmartre) but for the moment we just want to light a spot on a very special jewelry, that we can easily call a “tiny museum”. If you are a cuff links fanatic you can spend the afternoon trying out more than 2000 diverse kinds which go back in time and styles.

This little and crowded shop, that this year marks thirty years of activity, opened by Elvio Demaldé and his wife Loredana, creates with its unique items a shimmery path that starts from the late 19th century till today.

You can find all kinds cuff links: the classic buttons made in diverse materials such as enamel, bone, stone, Bakelite, tortoise shell along with those with car or Vespa logos, and even with the emblem of the mythical Alps soldiers, the Alpini.

And if the lady with you is getting bored you can sweeten the wait with a present since Demaldé offers a vast set of bijoux for her: period pins, earrings and rings, that by the way have been photographed for the most important fashion magazines.

Step back in front of the store and observe people passing by: Milan is a busy place were people don’t like to lose time, if you see women stopping in front of the window, opening their bag, looking for their glasses, putting them on and bending forward a little you understand you are in the right place!
